Spring 2 - Week 3 - Learning & Achievements

Please see below all our learning and achievements in 4E:

Maths: We continued our topic of division by dividing a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number with remainders and dividing a 3-digit number by a 1-digit number. We used place value counters to help us with exchanging and finding the remainders.

English: We continued with Maya Angelou's I Rise Poem and focused on our sentence stacking. We focused on constant similes, metaphors and rhyme, direct questions and precise verbs to describe feelings.

Science: We continued our topic of Sound by conducting an experiment to see the difference between pitch and volume. We learnt that pitch is how high or low a sound is, and that volume is how loud or quiet a sound is.

RE: We continued our worldview of Christianity and focused on Jesus' crucifixion. We spoke about how the thief would be feeling before and after Jesus forgave him.

PSHE: We continued our topic of Healthy Me by focusing on smoking. We took a quiz about smoking and spoke about why people start smoking. We then worked in groups to act out different scenarios for the class to guess.

History: We started our new topic of the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire. We learnt about the three Punic Wars and how these helped make Ancient Rome into a powerful empire.

Geography: We started our new topic of Northern Ireland. On a map, we identified the 6 counties, the capital city of Belfast, Lake Neough and surrounding bays and seas.

Art: We continued our learning of Ancient Roman Monuments by researching facts about the Pantheon.

PE: Football with Mr Watson.

Handwriting: Regular verbs and double c's

Spellings: Spelling Rule 8 of -ed suffix.

Guided Reading: Retrieval questions based on Science Week texts.
