An exciting week in Class Lewis celebrating all things reading and books for World Book Day! Thank you parents for your support with some amazing costumes. In the afternoon, we completed some World Book Day themed Maths - finding the winner of the mystery costume and even created some gorgeous writing based on our class book The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe. Children chose to create stories, dialogue, setting descriptions and acrostic poems - blown away by their creativity!

This week in Maths, we began our topic of decimals. We identified decimals up to 2 decimal places and found equivalent fractions and decimals in both tenths and hundredths!

In English, we have continued PIXL Writing Therapies based on our recent SPaG assessment. We revisited full stops  (identifying the subject and verb) alongside relative clauses.

In History, we learnt all about the conditions slaves faced on the Middle Passage journey as part of our topic of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Very insightful and mature conversations were had by all the pupils.

In PSHE, our focus this week was alcohol and the effects it has on our bodies. As a class, we provided an alternative ending to a story and also made our own informed decision on whether we will drink alcohol when we are older.

In Science, we continue to look at forces. This week our focus has been on friction and the different types of friction: air resistance, water resistance and upthrust.

We have also created our Mother's Day cards - we hope that you all have a lovely day!

Alongside all our learning, we have made some amazing achievements this week too. Well done to this week's Golden Pupil for making good progress in swimming and impressing the instructors, but also working hard to work independently and stay focused on the task in hand - we're very proud of you!

Well done to our Star of the Week for consistently pushing herself to high standards in her writing, always wanting to do better and for being a true role model with her behaviour. Mrs T & I are very proud of you superstar - keep this up!

A huge well done to these two pupils for winning the Forest School Award out of the whole school by impressing Miss Newell with your hard work and helpfulness and well done for winning the Spelling Bee Award out of the whole school by applying your phonics knowledge to help you spell out tricky words - very proud of you both!

Well done to King Edmund for securing their victory and becoming this week's Narnia Dojo Champions!

A huge well done to our double whammy Nessy winner for earning the most nuggets and spending the most time on the app, and well done to our ReadTheory winners for earning the most knowledge points and taking the most quizzes!

Wow - an amazing number of children in the class achieving full marks on their times table tests.  Proud of you all!

We're getting closer to our 60-point reading certificates and a new book. Well done to all these pupils reading each day in and out of school and taking part in your Phonics lessons - your hard work is really paying off!

Finally, well done to these girls for taking part in West Lynn's Dance Festival - having the confidence to dance at the Corn Exchange in front of other schools and your loved ones. We are all very proud of you, and it was great to see your wonderful performance!
