King’s Lynn school pupils welcome author for World Book Day

Pupils at Lynn’s Howard Junior School welcomed a children’s author, zookeeper and big cat expert to join in their celebrations of World Book Day yesterday.

Martin Hill founded Indy Publishing two years ago and has written a number of books to share stories of his experiences of working with lions, tigers and cheetahs over almost 20 years. His books are mostly aimed at children aged between two and eight.

The children all dressed up for the occasion with prizes given by the school for the best fancy dress costume.

Throughout the day, the pupils took part in a readathon and many tiger-themed activities.

And headteacher Gregory Hill said: “We were delighted to have him visit us and help pupils with their writing.”

Howard was one of many schools across West Norfolk which held special events on Thursday for World Book Day.
