Mr Gunn, who played goalkeeper for Norwich City, was invited to the junior school to present certificates for excellent behaviour and attendance awards.
He received a warm welcome before he gave a talk to pupils about his football career and the importance of working hard at a young age.
On a tour around the school, the ex-City manager said he was impressed with sporting pedigree of the school and the amount of sporting awards Howard Junior had won.
The children gathered at the end of the day to wish him a merry Christmas and he enjoyed a mince pie with staff and parents.
Mr Gunn stayed to sign autographs for eager Canaries fans, both pupils and adults.
