King’s Lynn pupils get new uniforms to celebrate their school becoming an academy

Howard Junior School, Parkway, officially became an academy on December 1, but it won’t be changing is name and will still be known as Howard Junior School.

The school celebrated its new status with a party for pupils and new uniforms on the children’s return yesterday.

Headteacher Gregory Hill said: “Hopefully, the new uniforms, going back to shirt and tie, which the governors paid for, will instil further pride in our pupils.

“We are a ‘standalone’ academy so we don’t have a sponsor. The reason we were allowed to convert is that we are a good school with outstanding features and we met the criteria for conversion under this category.

“Our school can enjoy greater freedoms as an academy.

“In the future, we would like to be a sponsor to other schools and hope to grow our family of schools. Also, to ensure other schools get access to the amazing technology and opportunities Howard pupils have.

“We would be happy to support any school wishing to explore academy status. Our aim is to transform education in West Norfolk.”
