    The highlight of the week for 6S was visiting the Guildhall to see an exhibition of our artwork that we had produced. Whilst we were at the Guildhall, children participated in activities such as creating optical illusion art (Optart) and recreating famous local artist CPT's works.

    English

    We worked on our PIXL SPAG test gaps and learned about determiners, hyphens and prepositions. Our spelling focus has been words with 'ough', 'eigh', 'ey' and 'ei' in them.

    Maths

    The class has been introduced to percentages and have found equivalences between fractions and decimals.

    Science

    As pictured above, the children have put into practice their designs of their electrical toys and have made them using a variety of different materials to either light up their toy or move their toys.

    History

    The class have applied all of their knowledge of the Victorian Era to write an essay comparing life back then to today.

    PE

    Children progressed with their yoga and looked at different poses that would involve a partner.

    Maths

    The children have been working on many different aspects of decimals this week. They have dived into place value, rounding, addition, multiplication and division.

     

    English

    A new unit this week with children applying their cross-curricular knowledge of the Victorian Workhouses to plan a newspaper report on a murder. They have learnt and applied the key features of a newspaper report, e.g. Headlines, bylines, introduction, main body, conclusion, direct speech and reported speech.

     

    Science

    The children have been applying their knowledge of circuits and conductive materials to plan and design their own electric toy.

     

    PE/Art/History/MFL

    6S have been working on their yoga poses and yoga flows. In art, the children have been using watercolours to add to their Victorian Architecture designs. In history,  the children looked more at The Great Exhibition of 1851 and studied some of the art, science and technology that was showcased. In Spanish, the children learned about the different colours.
